Lisa has been arbitrating cases for thirty years. Recognizing that the value of arbitration is to provide a fair and efficient process to resolve matters in dispute, Lisa strives to achieve a timely and cost effective resolution. This allows the parties to move forward with their lives, without the burden and expense of ongoing litigation.
Lisa conducts a preliminary hearing promptly after being assigned to the case and works with the parties to set an arbitration date as well as discovery deadlines acceptable to all parties. Lisa encourages the parties to streamline their discovery, without compromising their duty to zealously represent their clients, and to identify what information is truly relevant to the claims and defenses in the arbitration proceeding. Lisa is readily available to resolve any discovery disputes or other issues that arise while the parties prepare for arbitration, thereby lessening the time and costs that might be incurred if the parties were in litigation and proceeding to trial.
Lisa arbitrates commercial and employment cases locally, regionally and nationally through the American Arbitration Association, the Washington and Virginia Balanced Billing Arbitration Panels, the Arbitration Service of Portland, court mandated arbitration programs, and the Oregon State Bar Fee Dispute Resolution program. Having litigated commercial and employment cases for many years, Lisa enjoys the opportunity to assist parties in resolving disputes through arbitration and mediation as a cost effective alternative to litigation. Lisa also serves as a Special Master for discovery disputes in pending litigation.
Lisa is a frequent speaker on alternative dispute resolution, recognizing the importance of educating litigators, in-house lawyers, business owners and transactional attorneys on the value of arbitration. Lisa has presented webinars and programs with the Washington State Bar Health Law Section, the Oregon ADR Section, the American Arbitration Association, the Federal Bar Association ADR Section, the Oregon Bureau of Labor, and the Washington Annual Dispute Resolution Conference.
